DESIGNER SHOES NEWS : Vivienne Westwood shoes in the spotlight. A PERSONAL Collection of Vivienne Westwood Shoes opens at The Hub National Centre for Craft and Design in Sleaford on January 29. Featuring an opulent display of footwear by the ‘Damed’ British fashion designer, visitors are invited to admire and enjoy her work. Westwood, best known for the creation of punk fashion with Malcolm McLaren in the 70s, has a reputation for innovation in design. This exhibition is based around a collection of shoes amassed over the past 15 years by a private collector. It spans the designer’s high fashion career, from the 70s onwards and showcases some of her most innovative and iconic shoe designs. The exhibition was originated by The Civic in Barnsley and has been curated by David Sinclair. It explores the development of Westwood’s designs over 40 years, highlighting her most exquisite creations, whilst raising questions regarding the reasons behind our continued lust for beautiful shoes and the boundaries between fashion and art.
